Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county, from a select committee, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act requiring John L.
Stansbury, collector of the State taxes for 1848, for Baltimore
county, to make statements to the Comptroller of the amount
of State taxes due from him, and to pay the same into the
Treasury, at such time, and on such conditions as are herein
provided;
Which was read the first time, and referred to the com-
mittee on Ways and Means.
Mr. Welling, from a select committee, reported favorably
on the Senate bill entitled, an act for the better regulation of
primary schools in Howard county.
Mr. Stonestreet, from a select committee, reported favora-
bly on the bill entitled, an act for the relief of Robert Digges,
of Charles county;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Rogers, from a special committee, reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act to authorise the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore city, to levy hereafter upon the assessa-
ble property within said city, a direct tax not to exceed the
sum of eight hundred thousand dollars annually, with full
power, by ordinance, to provide for the collection of the
same;

Mr. Root, from a select committee, reported favorably on
the bill entitled, an act authorising the County Commission-
ers of Frederick county, to remove from the assessment list of
said county, two absconding negro men, slaves for life, now
assessed to Abdiel Unkefer;

Mr. Waller, from a select committee, reported favorably on
the bill entitled, an act to appoint an additional Constable in
Election District, No. 4, in Somerset county;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Kennard, from a select committee, reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act to aid the erection of a monument
commemorative of the Declaration of American Indepen-
dence;
Which was read the first time.
Mr. Moore, from a select committee, reported favorably on
