Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stirling moved that the rules be suspended, to give
said bill a second reading ;

Determined in the negative.
On motion of Mr. Landing,
The vote just taken was re-considered, and
Said bill was read the second time, and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

On motion of Mr. Stirling,

The rules were suspended, and the said bill was read the
third time, three-fourths of the members concurring, and
passed by yeas and nays, as follow :

The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the day,

On motion of Mr. Wickes,

The consideration of the order of the day was postponed
until 1½ o'clock.

Mr. Wickes, from a select committee, reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act to protect the public bridge, at
Compton, in Queen Anne's county;

Which was read the first time; also,
