funding of a certain sum of money paid into the State Trea-
sury; also,

Reported on a Senate bill entitled, an act for the relief of
the Sheriff of Kent county, asked that the committee be ex-
cused from its consideration.

The said bill was then referred to the Kent county delega-
tion.

Also, favorably on a bill entitled, an act appropriating a
sum of money for the use of James G. Henning, clerk of the
circuit court for Montgomery county ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Ford, of Cecil, from the committee on Education, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to establish a uni-
form system of Public Schools in Cecil county ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stirling, chairman of the committee on Ways and
means, reported favorably on the bill entitled, an act making
appropriations for the support of the Government, for the year
ending on the first day of January, 1859 ;

Which was read the first time, and made the order of the
day for Tuesday next.

Mr. Dail, from the committee on Claims, reported favor-
ably on a bill entitled, an act to compensate Josiah H. Gordon
for legal services;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Dail, from the committee on Claims, reported favor-
ably on a bill entitled, an act to refund to Horace Resley, of
Allegany county, money erroneously paid by him into the
treasury;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. McKinstry, from the committee on Agriculture, report-
ed favorably on a bill entitled, an act to regulate the sale and
purchase of potatoes and apples in this State ;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stirling, from the committee on Ways and Means, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to provide for the
instruction of Indigent Blind persons, inhabitants of this
State, and in aid of the Maryland Institution for the instruc-
tion of the Blind;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stirling, from the committee on Ways and Means, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, a supplement to the act to
incorporate the trustees of the Sheppard Asylum, passed 24th
day of May, 1853;
