former collector of taxes in the third Collection District of
Prince George's county ;

On motion of Mr. McKinstry,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to
introduce an act to waive in favor of the Western Maryland
Railroad Company, any lien or claim which the State may
have on or to the Green Spring Branch of the Northern Cen-
tral Railway Company.

On motion of Mr. McKinstry,

Leave was granted the committee on Corporations, to in-
troduce an act amendatory of an act passed at January ses-
sion, 1853, chapter 363.

On motion of Mr. Hanway,

Leave was granted the Harford county delegation, to intro-
duce a bill to provide for the appointment of an additional
Magistrate in Marshall's District, in Harford county.

On motion of Mr. Thruston,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to
bring in a bill to authorise the Cumberland Coal and Iron
Company, to convert a portion into shares of preferred stock,
and to issue bonds secured by mortgage on deeds of trust.

On motion of Mr. Thruston,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to
bring in a bill to repeal the 10th section of the act of January
session, 1852, chapter 93, entitled an act to alter and amend
the charter of the Cumberland Coal and Iron Company.

On motion of Mr. Crowley,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore city delegation, to in-
troduce a bill authorising the Mayor and City Council of Bal-
timore, to license wagons, carts and other vehicles, to use the
streets of Baltimore city.

On motion of Mr. Mackubin,

Leave was granted to the committee on Judiciary, to bring
in a bill to compel negro plaintiff's to give security for pay-
ment of costs in certain cases.

Mr. Harrington, from the committee on Corporations, re-
ported favorably on the Senate bill entitled, an act to incor-
porate the Peabody Institute of the city of Baltimore; also,

Favorably on the Senate bill entitled, an act to extend the
powers of the President and Commissioners of the village of
Port Deposit; also,

Favorably on the Senate bill entitled, an act to incorporate
the Maryland Club; also,

Favorably on the Senate bill entitled, an act to authorise
