the American Coal Company of Allegany county, to issue
bonds and dispose of the same; also,

Favorably on the bill entitled, a further supplement to the
act entitled, an act to incorporate the Frederick Town
Saving's Institution, and the various supplements thereto;

Which was read the first time; also,

Favorably on the bill entitled, a supplement to an act
passed at December session, 1826, chapter 123, entitled, an
act to incorporate the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company;

Which was read the first time; also,

Favorably on a bill entitled, an act supplementary to the
act of December session, 1843, chapter 253, entitled, an act
to incorporate a Literary Institution in Washington county,
under the name and style of the College of St. James;

Which was read the first time; also,

Favorably on a bill entitled, an act relating to stock job-
bing;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Magruder, from the committee on Education, reported
favorably on a bill entitled, an act to establish a uniform sys-
tem of public education in the State of Maryland;

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Magruder,

Five hundred extra copies of said bill were ordered to be
printed, and it was made the order of the day for Thursday,
the 18th inst.

Mr. Magruder, from the committee on Education, reported
favorably on a bill entitled, an act for the endowment of the
Baltimore Female College;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Kennard, from the majority of the committee on inter-
nal improvements, reported favorably on the Senate bill en-
titled, an act to incorporate the Columbia and Port Deposit
Railroad Company;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Burgess, from the minority of said committee, made
the following

REPORT:

The undersigned, the minority of said committee begs leave
respectfully to represent, that having given to the subject the
best consideration of which he is capable, he regrets being
compelled to differ from the majority of his colleagues on said
