Which was referred to the committee on Inspections, hereafter
to be appointed.

Mr. Kilbourn, offered a petition from the citizens of Anne
Arundel county, praying for the passage of a law to authorize
an additional school tax in that county;

Which was referred to the committee on Education, hereafter
to be appointed.

Mr. Rogers, offered the petition of John Harris, executor of
John Higham of the city of Baltimore, praying for relief therein
mentioned;

Which was referred to the committee on Ways and Means,
hereafter to be appointed.

Mr. McPherson offered the memorial of the President and Di-
rectors of the Santa Clara Association of Baltimore, praying for
an amendment to their charter;

Which was referred to the committee on Corporations.

Mr. Forrest presented the following memorial of J. P. Cook
and others, asking to have the present Inspection law under the
License System, so changed as to have the appointing power
given to the Governor;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary;

Mr. Welling offered a petition of sundry citizens of Howard
county, for an act to authorize the Commissioners of Howard
county, to raise the wages of the supervisors and hands working
on the public road;

Which was referred to the Howard county delegation.

Mr. Todd offered a petition from sundry citizens of Caroline
county, asking for a law to enable William Hammond, a free
negro, to hold real estate;

Which was referred to the Judiciary committee.

Mr. Welling offered a petition of Thomas B. Hobbs, Register
of Wills of Howard county, to have refunded certain money er-
roneously paid into the Treasury;

Which was referred to the committee on Claims.
On motion of Mr. Stirling,

It was agreed when the House adjourn to day, it adjourn to
meet, to morrow, at 10 o'clock.

Mr. Lynch of Baltimore city offered the petition of the members
of "the Baltimore City Guards" a volunteer military corps, asking
compensation for services rendered to the State of Maryland by
order of the Governor;

Referred to the committee on Claims.
