Mr. Forrest presented a memorial from fifty-six citizens of
Baltimore city, asking for the repeal of the Inspection laws ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Sudler, of Somerset, presented a memorial and other
papers, relating to the claims of John Cullen for services ren-
dered by him in executing the laws of this State, in relation
to the protection of oysters ;

Which was referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Smith, of Baltimore city presented a memorial from
one hundred and fifty-one persons, praying for a change in
the present Inspections laws of this State ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Stirling presented an application from J. Hooper and
others, asking leave to withdraw their names from the peti-
tion for a change in the pilot laws ;

Which was ordered to lie on the table.
Mr. Kilgour offered the following order :

Ordered, That the committee on Colored Population be in-
structed to report a bill repealing the act of '45, chapter 340,
which requires slaves to be imprisoned in the penitentiary for
a term of years before they are transported; and directing
the negroes now confined under the provisions of that act, to
be sold forthwith out of the State;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county, offered the following order:

Ordered, That this House shall meet on Wednesday and
Thursday evenings of the present week, at 7½ o'clock, P. M.,
for the purpose of acting on bills of a local character, entitled
to a second and third reading exclusively ;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Alexander offered the following order:

Ordered, That the committee room, adjoining the Hall of
the House of Delegates, be appropriated exclusively to the
use of one-half of the Committee Clerks now employed by the
House, the Folder and the Post-master, and that they be re-
quired to occupy the same,

Which was rejected.
Mr. Dail offered the following order:

Ordered, That the committee on Claims be allowed to meet
for the transaction of business whilst the House is in session.
Which was adopted.

Mr. Sudler, of Somerset, offered the following order:

Ordered, That when the vote was taken yesterday, on the
substitute offered by Mr. Mackubin, to "print two copies of
