Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;"
Also delivered the following bill:

A bill entitled, an act to secure the more speedy payment
of the bailiffs of the Circuit Court for Carroll County;

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Carroll
county delegation.

On motion of Mr. Hobbs, the House adjourned.

TUESDAY, February 9th, 1858.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr.
Graff.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Berry, Speaker, Neale, Wickes, Tongue, Mackubin,
Kilbourn, Griffiss, Magruder, Burgess, Walker, Allender,
Ford, of Balt. co., Lynch, of Balt. co., Smith, of Baltimore
co., Goldsborough, Waller, Moore, Sudler, of Somerset,
Tilghman, Dail, Richardson, Grieves, Ford, of Cecil, Kidd,
Belt, Larrimore, Sudler, of Q. A., Harding, Bowlus, Root,
Koons, Hobbs, Hanway, Bacon, Baker, Todd, McGonigal,
Stirling, Rogers, McPherson, Smith, of Baltimore city, Ken-
nard, Lynch, of Baltimore city, Harrington, Crowley, Forrest,
Alexander, Duvall, Worthington, Thruston, Kilgour, Bar-
nard, Mountz, McKinstry, Day, Welling and Dorsey.

The proceedings of yesterday, were read.
On motion of Mr. McPherson,

It was ordered that so much of yesterday's Journal as is
affected by the Speaker's change of decision, be expunged by
the Speaker.

Mr. Kidd presented a petition from Samuel Burns, and
sixty other citizens of Cecil county, praying the passage of an
act to establish a uniform system of common schools in Mary-
land;

Which was referred to the committee on Education.
