tion of Maryland," and recommend that the bill does not
pass.

Mr. Goldsborough moved to strike out the enacting clause
of the bill.

Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, offered the following order:

Ordered, That when this House adjourn, it adjourn to
meet at 11 o'clock on Tuesday morning, and at the same
hour every day thereafter until further ordered;

Which was- adopted.

Mr. Belt, from a special committee, reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act to regulate the manumission of negro
slaves in this State;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Colored Population.

The Secretary of the Senate returned the following bills :

A bill entitled, an act to make valid the election returns
and ordinances of the corporation of Mechanicstown, in Fred-
erick county,

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays;"

A bill entitled, an act for the relief James Murray,

Endorsed, "passed by yeas and nays ;

A bill entitled, an act to empower the Board of Commis-
missioners of Washington, to lay off a new election district,
to be composed of parts of election districts Nos. 3 and 4, in
said county, and to cause the polls thereof to be held at Cun-
ningham's Cross Roads;
