Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Alexander presented a memorial from David Ball and
twenty-nine other citizens of Baltimore, praying for a prohibi-
tory liquor law;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Mountz presented a memorial from George W. Kil-
dow and other citizens of Allegany county, remonstrating
against any change in the law allowing debtors to be sued
before a justice of the peace out of his district;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Mackubin presented a memorial from sundry citizens
of Anne Arundel county, praying the passage of a law in re-
lation to manures sold by the cart load ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.
Mr. McPherson offered the following order :             

Ordered, That his Excellency the Executive of this State,
be requested to obtain from the proper authorities of the State
of Maine, such statistical information, relative to the practi-
cal working of the Prohibitory Liquor Law. during the
period of its enforcement in that State, in the diminution of
costs for prosecuting criminals, maintaining convicts and
paupers, &c.; as will enable the committee on Ways and
Means, and this House, more clearly to understand and deter-
mine: Whether the prohibition of the manufacture and sale of
ardent spirits and intoxicating liquors, would not better pro-
mote the pecuniary interests of this State, by the reduction of
her expenses, than all the revenue now derived from existing
license laws, or that is likely to be received from new enact-
ments on this subject? And transmit the same to this House
at the earliest practicable period;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Alexander offered the following order :

Ordered, That preparatory to night sessions, the Librarian
be and he is hereby directed, to have all the lamps in this
hall re-fitted immediately;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Alexander offered the following order :

Ordered, That bill No. 90, being an act entitled, an act
to simplify and regulate Pleadings and Practice in Equity,
be and the same is hereby made the special order for Thurs-
day, 11th instant;

Which was adopted.
