SATURDAY, Feb. 6th, 1858.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr.
Veitch.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:
Messrs. Berry, Sp'r, Neale, Meginnis, Tongue, Mackubin,
Kilbourn, Griffiss, Magruder, Burgess, Walker, Ford, of B.
co., Lynch, of B. co., Goldsborough, Waller, Moore, Ford, of
Cecil, Belt, Larrimore, Landing, Harding, Bowlus, Root,
Hobbs, Hanway, Bacon, Baker, Stirling, Rogers, McPherson,
Harrington, Alexander, Gray, Duvall, Barnard, Kilgour,
Mountz, McKinstry and Dorsey.

There being no quorum present,
On motion of Mr. McPherson,

The Sergeant-at-arms was sent after the absent members.
After some time the Sergeant-at-arms returned and report-
ed that he had summoned the absentees.

Mr. Alexander presented a petition from Miss Laura Young
and twenty-six other ladies of the 18th Ward of Baltimore
city, praying for a prohibitory liquor law;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Alexander presented a petition from Miss Mary E.
Sykes and sixty other ladies of the 17th Ward of Baltimore
city, praying for a prohibitory liquor law;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Bacon presented a petition from the Commissioners of
the town of Havre de Grace, in Harford county, and one
hundred and thirty-four other citizens of the same place,
praying the passage of a law to prevent nuisances in said
town, and for granting more ample powers to the corporate
authorities in the abatement thereof;

Which was read and referred to the committee on Judi-
ciary .

Mr. Alexander presented the memorial of Thomas Cream-
er and one hundred and twelve other citizens of the 19th
Ward of Baltimore, praying for a prohibitory liquor law;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Alexander presented the memorial of Thomas Sparks
and one hundred and three other citizens of the 17th Ward
of Baltimore, praying for a prohibitory liquor law;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Alexander presented a memorial from Philip Chamber-
lain and thirty other citizens of the 7th Ward, Baltimore,
praying for a prohibitory liquor law.
