State's interest in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, to the pre-
ferred bondholders of the same.

On motion of Mr, Smith, of Baltimore city,

Leave was granted the committee on Ways and Means to
introduce a bill entitled, an act to amend the act, passed Jan-
uary session, 1856, chapter 353, entitled an act to raise ad-
ditional revenue to pay the debts of the State, by increasing
the rates of license to ordinary keepers and traders.

On motion of Mr. Neale,

Leave was granted to the St. Mary's county delegation, to
report a bill to authorise the Commissioners of the tax of St.
Mary's county, to levy an additional tax to erect a suitable
jail in Leonard Town.

On motion of Mr. Mackubin,

Leave was granted to the Anne Arundel county delegation
to bring in a bill to prohibit the sale of intoxicating liquors
in the city of Annapolis, to minors and servants.

On motion of Mr. Griffiss,

Leave was granted to the committee on Claims to intro-
duce a bill for the relief of the securities on the official bond
of John W. Wilburn, former collector of the Second collec-
tion district of Calvert county.

On motion of Mr. McKinstry,

Leave was granted to the committee on Agriculture, to in-
troduce a bill to regulate the sale and purchase of potatoes
and apples in this State.

On motion of Mr. Duvall,

Leave was granted to the Montgomery county delegation,
to report a bill to establish public schools in Montgomery
county.

On motion of Mr. Moore,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to in-
troduce a bill to incorporate the Mutual Insurance Company
of Somerset and Worcester counties.

On motion of Mr. Meginnis,

Leave was granted to the Kent county delegation, to in-
troduce a bill entitled, a supplement to an act entitled, an act
entitled, an act to regulate the granting of licences to retail
intoxicating liquors in Kent county.

On motion of Mr. Davis,

Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to in-
troduce a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Methodist
Episcopal church, at Port Deposit, Cecil county.
