Mr. Belt presented a petition from Thomas J. Marshall, of
Prince George's county, praying compensation as State libra-
rian;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Mackubin presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Maryland, asking the interference of the Legislature with re-
gard to the Washington and Baltimore Turnpike Road.

Which was referred to the committee on Roads and High-
ways.

Mr; McGonigal offered the following order :

Ordered, that the petition presented yesterday, in reference
to the Greensborough Bank, be referred to a special commit-
tee of five members, who shall have full power to examine
into the affairs of that bank, and report to this House the re-
sult of their investigation.

Mr. Thruston moved to lay the order on the table ;
