Belt and Samuel Duer are duly elected Directors on the part
of the State in the Mechanics' Bank of Baltimore; that Fred-
erick D. Herbert and Thomas G. Robertson are duly elected
Directors on the part of the State in the Hagerstown Bank;
and that Rignal D. Woodward is duly elected Director on
the part of the State in the Farmers' Bank of Maryland.

The proceedings of yesterday, were read.
Mr. Grieves presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Dorchester county, asking the enactment of a law providing
for the sale of free negroes and mulattoes, for the payment of
debts contracted by them;
Which was referred to the Dorchester county delegation.
Mr. Grieves presented a petition from Thomas Y. Canby
and others, of the city of Baltimore, asking for the passage
of a law repealing the tax of mortgages;
