this House, at the earliest day possible, a succinct statement
of the financial condition of the State, to he prepared by him,
with the view of exhibiting the farthest extent to which the
various State taxes, now levied may be respectively abolished
or reduced, without endangering the ability of the State reg-
ularly to meet its liabilities;
Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county,
Leave was granted to the Baltimore county delegation, to
bring in a bill to authorise the County Commissioners of Bal-
timore county, to issue stocks or bonds for certain purposes.
On motion of Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county,
Leave was granted the Baltimore county delegation, to
bring in a bill to require the Sheriff of Baltimore county, to
give bonds for the collection of State and county taxes.
On motion of Mr. Harrington,
Leave was granted to the1 committee on Judiciary, to intro-
duce a bill to enable the trustees of the last will and testa-
ment of Wm. Brown, to pay over to the pastor of the Uni-
versalist church, the interest on five hundred dollars ($500,)
devised in trust for the pastor of said church, for the time
being.
On motion of Mr. Sudler, of Somerset,
Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill to alter and amend the charter of the Somer-
set and Worcester Savings Bank.
On motion of Mr. Alexander,
Leave was granted to the committee on Education, to intro-
duce a bill to endow the Baltimore Female College.
On motion of Mr. Mackubin,
Leave was granted to the committee on Claims, to bring in
a bill to refund to Nicholas H. Green, clerk of Anne Arun-
del County Court, and James T. Blackiston, clerk of St.
Mary's County Court, the several sums of money paid into
the Treasury by them, as taxes, in the year 1852, and part of
the year 1853.
On motion of Mr. Crowley,
Leave was granted to the committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Maryland Mutual Insurance
Company, of Baltimore.
