Mr. Ford, of Baltimore county, presented a memorial from
the President and Directors of the Dulaney's Valley and Tow-
sontown Turnpike Road Company ;

Which was referred to the Baltimore county delegation.

Mr. Kennard presented a memorial from 164 citizens of
Baltimore city, asking for a repeal of the Inspection laws ;

Which was referred to the committee on Inspections.

Mr. Root presented a memorial from the President and
managers of the Woodsboro' and Frederick Turnpike Road
Company, praying the passage of an act declaratory of their
powers in relation to tolls on said road ;

Which was referred to the committee on Roads and High-
ways.

Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, presented a petition of thirty-
five Shipmasters of Baltimore city, praying for an alteration
of the Pilot laws;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, presented a petition of 500
citizens of Baltimore, asking an alteration of the Pilot laws;

Which was referred to the committee on Judiciary.

Mr. Lynch, of Baltimore city, presented a petition of
Thomas B. Sargent and others, praying the endowment of
the Baltimore Female College;

Which was referred to the committee on Education.
Mr. Waller offered the following order:

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal that Mr.
Moore, is prevented from attendance upon this House by indis-
position ;

Which was adopted.

The Speaker laid before the House the following communi-
cation :

To the Hon. J. S. Berry,

Speaker of the House of Delegates,

Sir:—I beg leave on behalf of the Maryland State Temper-
ance Society "to request the use of the Hall of the House of
Delegates," on the evening of either the 4th, or 5th of Febru-
ary, to hold the annual meeting of said society. We have
with a single exception held the annual meeting of our State
Society in the Hall ever since its foundation in 1831.             

The Hon. Judge Eccleston, is President of our society.
The Hon. Neal Dow, who has recently returned from Europe,
