108              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 22,

FRIDAY, January 22nd, 1858.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by Rev. Mr.
Graff.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Berry, Sp'r, Morgan, Wickes, Meginnis, Tongue,
Mackubin, Kilbourn, Griffiss, Magruder, Burgess, Stonestreet,
Allender, Ford, of Baltimore county, Lynch, of .Baltimore
county, Smith, of Baltimore county, Goldsborough, Waller,
Moore, Sudler, of Somerset, Tilghman, Dail, Richardson,
Grieves, Davis, Ford, of Cecil, Kidd, Belt, Wyville, Contee,
Larrimore, Sudler, of Queen Anne's, Landing, Spence, Hearn,
Thomas, Harding, Root, Koons, Hobbs, Hanway, Bacon,
Baker, Todd, Stirling, Rogers, McPherson, Smith, of Balti-
more city, Kennard; Lynch, of Baltimore city, Harrington,
Crowley, Forrest, Alexander, Rohrer, Summers, Gray,
Schnebly, Duvall, Worthington, Kilgour, Barnard, Mountz,
McKinstry, Reindollar, Day, Welling, Dorsey.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Burgess, presented the petition of 185 of the citizens of
Charles county, praying that the jail fees may be increased
in said county;

Which was referred to the Charles county delegation.

Mr. Burgess, presented a petition of the tobacco planters of
Charles county, in relation to the inspection and weighing
tobacco in the State Warehouses in Baltimore city;

Which was read and referred to the committee on Inspec-
tions.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

By the Senate:

January 21st, 1858.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We propose with the concurrence of your honorable body,

to constitute the standing committee on Printing of the two

Houses, a joint committee to contract for the printing of the

Laws, that may be passed at the present session, the contract

to be subject to the ratification of the two Houses.
