Mr. Dennis, of Somerset, offered the following protest:
In the matter of the contested election between William H.
Purnell and A. Lingan Jarrett, for the Comptrollership of
this State, the majority of this House having proceeded to
vote upon and determine said case, in violation, as the un-
dersigned believe, of the rules of this House, without reading
any testimony in said case, and therefore in the absence of
all testimony; and for the further reason that said resolu-
tions have been read but once, and that to-day, they, the
undersigned, do therefore refuse to vote on said resolutions,
and respectfully ask that this, their protest, be entered on the
Journal.
