.894              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [March 10,

Mr. Morgan offered the following :

Ordered, That the protest of the member from Somerset,
and other members of the American party, be entered, by
general consent, on the Journal of this House, it being
known to a majority of this House that the testimony was
printed, and in the possession of" every member thereof for
many days;

Mr. Medders moved to amend by inserting "the testimony
taken in the election cases was never printed ;"

Which was not concurred in.

The order of Mr. Morgan wan then adopted.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the re-
port of the committee on Elections, to whom was referred the
memorial of A. L. Jarrett, contesting the right of William
H. Purnell, to the office of Comptroller of the Treasury of
the State of Maryland;

The yeas and nays being ordered, appeared as follow :

Medders, Dennis, of Somerset, Stanford, Keene, and Stake re-
fused to vote, and asked that, it be entered on the Journal.
