818              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [March 8,

Mr. Kessler, from a special committee, reported favorably
on the bill entitled, an act incorporating a company to open
in part and improve the road from Frederick City, in Freder-
ick county, to the Spout Spring, on the Hamburg road, paus-
ing Broadrup's saw mill;

Which were severally read the first time.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following bills:

A bill entitled, an act to provide for a State subscription
to Wingate's Maryland Register for 1860 and 1861 ;

Endorsed: "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which was read the first time and referred to the commit-
tee on Ways and Means ;

A bill entitled, an act to pay William J. Roberts a sum of
money for services rendered by him in cleaning and putting
in order the arms in the State Armory ;

Endorsed: "passed by yeas and nays. "

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Claims;

A bill entitled, an act to prevent the selling or peddling of
carriages, hacks, gigs and buggy wagons in Frederick and
Washington counties, not manufactured in the State of Ma-
ryland ;

Endorsed: "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Freder-
ick county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Comptroller to ad-
just the accounts of William B. Goddard, and allow as cre-
dits on the same all sums of money for which the State's at-
torney may have receipted;

Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the com-
mittee on Claims.

A bill entitled, an act to create an additional election dis-
trict in Allegany county;

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Allegany Land
Improvement company;

Severally endorsed "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which were severally read the first time, and referred to
the Allegany county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act to amend the 20th article of the code
of public local laws relating to Talbot county, by adding
thereto the following section to punish shooting near the
Miles' river bridge, in said county;

Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays;"
