Mr. Goldsborough ottered the following:

Ordered, That the committee of Claims pay to Edward E.
Frazier forty-four dollars for services rendered as sergeant-at-
arms to the joint committee to investigate the affairs of the
Maryland Penitentiary.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Morgan offered the following:

Ordered, That the letter of resignation of Mr. Freaner, of
Washington county, be referred to a special committee of five,
for their consideration and an early report, thereon.

On motion of Mr. Briscoe,
It was laid on the table.

The Doorkeeper having returned: announced that he
had notified the absent members to give their attendance,
when,

On motion of Mr. Dennis, of Somerset,
All further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.

Mr. Denison, of Baltimore county, moved to reconsider the
vote by which the order of Mr. Morgan was laid on the table;
when

Mr. Dennis, of Somerset, offered as a substitute the follow-
ing order:

Ordered, That a committee of three be appointed by the
Speaker to take into consideration and report to this House
who are entitled to seats in the House of Delegates from
Washington county, and that the letter of Mr. Freaner be
referred to them;

Mr. Stake moved the previous question;

Which was sustained.

The question then being,

"Shall the main question be now put?"

It was sustained.

The question then recurring upon the substitute of Mr.
Dennis, of Somerset;

It was adopted, and Messrs. Morgan, Compton and Stake
were constituted said committee.

Mr. Medders moved that the House do now adjourn;
