The Doorkeeper was sent after the absent members.
During the absence of the Doorkeeper, the House proceed-
ed to the consideration of other business, and
Mr. Goldsborough, from a select committee, made a re-
port relative to the resolutions of the State of South Carolina;
Which was read and ordered to be printed.

Mr. Mackubin offered the following:
Ordered, That the thanks of this House are hereby tender-
ed to the reverend gentlemen who have officiated as chaplains
to his House, for the faithful and acceptable manner in which
they have discharged their duties, and that the committee on
Claims be and they are hereby directed to allow and pay to
each of them one hundred dollars;
Which was adopted.
Mr. Goldsborough offered the following:
Ordered, That the committee on Claims be directed to pay
William Blair Lord, the stenographer employed by the com-
mittee on Corporations to take the testimony in the city pas-
senger railway investigation, the sum of two hundred dollars;
Which was adopted.
