The said bill was then sent to the Senate.
On motion of Mr. Barnard,

Leave was granted the committee on Claims to introduce a
bill to compensate James M. Schley, for certain services per-
formed in the Court of Appeals of Maryland.

Mr. Freaner moved that the order of the day be taken up;

Being the report of the committee upon the case of Judge
Stump.

Mr. Maxwell moved that Judge Stump be permitted to ap-
pear before the bar of this House, by person or by counsel;

Pending the consideration of which,
Mr. Maxwell offered the following order.

Ordered, That Judge Stump be permitted to appear by
counsel before the bar of this House, to defend his case, pro-
vided, that the House be addressed by but one counsel in his
case, and that said counsel be permitted to address the House
but once.

Mr. Briscoe offered the following substitute:

Ordered by the House of Delegates, That Judge Stump be
allowed to appear before this House, in person or by some one
counsel, and shall be allowed to address this House in his
defence, for two hours;

Which was adopted.
