United States Senator, to supply the place of the Hon. James
Alfred Pearce, whose term will expire on the 4th day of
March, 1861, and also .State directors in the following banks:
The Bank of Baltimore, the Mechanics' Bank of Baltimore,
the Easton Bank, the Hagerstown Bank, and the Farmers'
Bank of Maryland. We have nominated on the part of this

House, for United States Senator,---------

We have nominated on the part of this House, for director
in the Bank of Baltimore, Mr. R. H. Mitchell; for directors
of the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore, John Hoffman and Sam-
uel M. Briscoe; for directors in the Easton Bank, James L. L.
Martin and L. F. II. Irving; for directors in the Hagerstown
Bank, Edward M. Mealy and Lewis Heist; for director in
the Farmers' Bank of Maryland, J. C. Parker.

We have appointed Messrs.

to join such gentlemen as may be named by your honorable
body, to count the ballots and report the result.

Mr. Freaner proposed to fill the first blank with the name
of Hon. James Alfred Pearce ;

Which was concurred in.

Mr. Crowley proposed to add the name of Hon. James U.
Dennis;

Which was concurred in.

The second blank was then filled by the names of Messrs.
Freaner and Naill as tellers on the part of the House.

The message, as amended, was then concurred in and sent
to the Senate.

The Speaker laid before the House the following communi-
cation from the Comptroller of the Treasury ;
Which was read and ordered to be printed, and
Referred to the committee on Agriculture.

Mr. Maxwell offered the following :

Ordered, That three thousand copies of the State Agricul-
tural Chemist's Report be printed for the use of the members
of this House, and that said copies be printed and seat to this
House by March, 6th inst.
