Mr. Mackubin offered the following:

Ordered, That the Comptroller of the Treasury, be and he
is hereby requested to inform this House immediately, whether
the money appropriated by law for the payment of the salary
of the State Librarian, for the period between February,
1856, and June, 1857, has been paid to that officer, and if
paid, to what person as State Librarian said money was paid;
and also, whether within the knowledge of the Comptroller,
the perron to whom said money was paid, was at any time with-
in said period actually in the office of State Librarian, or dis-
charged any of the duties of that office;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Mackubin presented a petition from sundry citizens of
