590            JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 27,

Also, on the bill entitled, an act to provide for the build-
ing of a new school house in school district No. 24 of Anne
Arundel county;

Which were severally read the first time.

Mr. Crowley moved a call of the House.

Upon the call of the roll,
On motion of Mr. Crowley,

The Sergeant-at-Arms was sent after the absent members.

The Sergeant-at-Arms returned, and reported that he had
notified the absent members who were in the city to give their
attendance.

On motion of Mr. Burgess,
All further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.

On motion of Mr. Burgess,

The rules were suspended, and the House took up for con-
sideration the bill entitled, an act to amend the 83d section of
the 74th article of the code of public general laws, so as to
extend the right to sue sea captains and owners of vessels
and steamboats in the counties where they take in freight;

Which was read the second time, and by special order a
third time, and passed by yeas and nays as follow:
