Dragoons, of Baltimore city, asking compensation for ser-
vices rendered at Harper's Ferry;
Referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Mills presented a petition from J. C. Owens, John
Gore, J. H. Chew and others, citizens of Carroll county,
praying for an act to incorporate the Church of God, of that
county;

Mr. Seth presented a petition from four hundred and thirty-
nine citizens of Baltimore, in favor of the People's Gas Light
company;

Which were severally referred to the committee on Corpo-
rations.                                                                         

On motion of Mr. Salmon,                     

Leave was granted the Frederick county delegation to in-
troduce a bill to authorise the citizens of Urbanna district in
Frederick county, to put and keep a gate on the county road
at Doyle's Water Station, on the Baltimore and Ohio Rail-
road.

On motion of Mr. Brown,

Leave was granted the Howard county delegation to intro-
duced a bill to make valid a deed from Nicholas E. Iglehart,
to John Oram.

Mr. Dennis, of Worcester, offered the following;

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Jacobs,
is detained from his scat by sickness.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Welch,

Leave was granted the Anne Arundel county delegation to
introduce a bill relating to the compensation of the sheriff of
Anne Arundel county.

Also, leave was granted the Anne Arundel county delega-
tion to introduce a bill to build a school House in District
No. 24, in Anne Arundel county.

On motion of Mr. McCleary,

Leave was granted the Allegany county delegation to in-
troduce a bill to make a new election district in Allegany
county.                                                                       

On motion of Mr. Straughn,

Leave was granted the committee on Colored Population to
introduce a bill to authorise Hooper B. Hopkins, to bring
a negro slave for a term of years from the State of Delaware,
to the State of Maryland.
