The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Graff.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The Speaker laid before the House the following communi-

Hon. Speaker Kilbourn:

Sir: I am sick, and cannot say when I shall be in the
House, if at all, again. The friends of those bills adverse to
the bills reported by myself, had better go on and perfect
them; and you will please say so to them, as I have little
hope of being able to meet with you any more.

Which was read.

Mr. Denison, of Baltimore city, presented a memorial from
Samuel Mactier, and eighty citizens of Baltimore, asking a
charter for a city railway;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

Mr. Salmon presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Frederick county, praying the passage of an act to authorise
them to erect a gate upon a public road therein mentioned.
