Mr. Gordon asked leave to withdraw his appeal from the
decision of the Chair;

Which was refused.

On motion of Mr. Compton,
The appeal was laid upon the table.

The question then recurring upon the motion of Mr. Hol-
land;

The printed bill No. 51 was read for information; when,

Mr. Holland moved, as an amendment to Mr. Burgess'
proposition, to substitute bill No. 51 for the original bill of
Mr. Jacobs;

Pending the consideration thereof,
On motion of Mr. Burgess,

The House resolved itself into a committee of the Whole,
for the consideration of bill No. 51. Mr. Gordon in the
chair.

After some time spent in committee of the Whole, the
committee rose, the Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr.
Gordon, chairman of the committee of the Whole House,
reported that they had the bill under consideration, had
made some progress thereon, and asked leave to sit again;

Which was assented to.
On motion of Mr. Burgess,

The House adjourned until Monday morning, at eleven
o'clock.

MONDAY, February 20, 1860.

The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Thrush.
Present at the call of the roll the following members :
Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Medders, Welch,
