Mackubin, Briscoe, Parran, Compton, Burgess, Ford, Deni-
son, of Baltimore county, Quinlan, Jones, of Talbot, Den-
nis, of Somerset, Long, Lawson, Linthicum, Keene, Hol-
land, Maxwell, Miller, Bryan, Jones, of Prince George's,
Starkey, Jacobs, Landing, Dennis, of Worcester, Kessler,
Johnson, Salmon, Wilson, of Harford, McCoy, Straughn,
Goldsborough, Krafft, Booze, Seth, Berry, Crowley, McAllis-
ter, Smith, Denison, of Baltimore city, Eakle, Freaner,
Stake, Griffith, Gordon, Barnard, Beall and Gorsuch.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The Speaker laid before the House the following bills,
delivered by the Secretary of the Senate:

House bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Conowingo
and Bel Air Turnpike company;

A bill entitled, an act to amend the 12th article of the code
of public local laws, by amending the section thereof which
authorises the levy of a tax for the support of schools, by in-
creasing the rate of said tax, and by amending the 108th
section thereof, which gives the school commissioners power
to procure school houses for the use of schools, by giving
them power to sell houses and lots purchased for that pur-
pose;

A bill entitled, an act to compensate J. Nevitt Steele for
legal services rendered the State in the Court of Appeals for
arguing the case of the State vs. the Baltimore and Susque-
hanna Steam company by appointment of the Governor;

A bill entitled, an act to add the following section to arti-
cle 2d of the code of public local laws fixing the compensa-
tion of jurors of Howard county;

A bill entitled, an act to amend the 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th,
10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 23d,
24th and 25th sections of article of the code of public local
laws relating to the collection of State and county taxes in
Howard county;

A bill entitled, an act to extend the time for the commence-
ment and completion of the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad
company;

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the president and visi-
tors of the Baltimore Hospital to apply a portion of their
funds to the purchase of certain parcels of ground;

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Westminster
Savings' Institution;
