Mr. Goldsborough, chairman of the committee on Corpora-
tions, reported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to authorise
the Gas Light company of Baltimore, incorporated by the
act of 1816, chapter 251, to increase its capital stock;
Also, a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Baltimore
Union Works;
Which were severally read the first time.
Mr. Long, chairman of the committee on Ways and Means,
reported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to amend the 77th
article of the code of public general laws, by amending the
17th section which provides for binding out children in the
House of Refuge, by authorising the managers to bind them
cither in or out of the State; the 18th section, which directs
the managers to receive the children of such parents as may
desire it; and the 21st and 22d sections, which appropriate
and direct the payment of a sum of money annually for the
support of the House of Refuge by increasing said sum, and
extending the time for payment thereof;

The rules were suspended to enable him to offer the fol-
lowing:
Ordered, That the leave heretofore granted to refer the bill
referring to the Criminal court of Baltimore city to the com-
mittee on the Judiciary be withdrawn, and the same be re-
ferred to the Baltimore city delegation.
Mr. Gordon, from the committee on the Judiciary, report-
ed favorably on the bill entitled, an act for the relief of John
Tubman and others;
Also, on the bill entitled, an act to amend the code of public
general laws in regard to contested elections;
Also, on the bill entitled, an act to provide for the transmis-
sion to the Circuit court of Washington county of certified
copies of papers and proceedings in the case of Gilmor vs.
Brien, removed from the high Court of Chancery to the
Superior court of Baltimore city;
Also, on the bill entitled, an act to amend the 104th sec-
tion of the 30th article of the code of public general laws,
