place of business or office, and the law or authority under
which they so keep a place of business or office in another
than the ward for which they were elected. Also, whether
they do or do not consider themselves respectively, the proper
and legal guardians of the peace of the ward for which they
were elected, and that the laws of the State require each of
them to keep their place of business or office within the ward
for which they were elected, and to remain at said office, from
8 o'clock, A. M., to 1 P. M., and from 3 P. M., to 6 P. M.
each day.
Ordered also, That each of the justices of the peace of
Baltimore city who were such during the year 1859, report on
or before said day, the amount of fees, costs and receipts of
all kinds received by them, and the amount of illegal fees
and charges which they have exacted from persons brought
before them respectively during said year;
Which was not adopted.
Mr. McAllister offered the following:
Ordered, That Charles D. Hiss, John McAllister, William
McKinley, Daniel E. Myers, R. R. Battee, Isaac L. Boyd and
William H. Hayward, justices of the peace of the city of
Baltimore, each of them respectively report to this House, on
or before the 23d instant, the number of the ward for which
they were elected, whether they keep their place or office for
the transaction of business within the ward of said city for
which they were elected, as required by law, and the number
of hours in each day they remain at said office; also, whether
they keep an office in any other than the ward for which they
were elected, and if so, the number of hours they remain at said
office each day, and the Law or authority under which they so
keep an office, in an other than the ward for which they were
elected. Also, whether they do or not consider themselves
respectively the special guardians of the peace of the ward for
which they were elected, and that the laws of the State re-
quire each of them to keep their office within the ward for
which they were elected, and to remain at said office from 8
A. M., to 1 P. M,, and from 3 P. M., to 6 P. M., each day.
Ordered also, That each of said justices who were such
during the year 1859, report on or before said day, the amount
of fees, costs and receipts of all kinds received by them re-
spectively during said year;
