Mr. Briscoe presented a petition from Mary J. Durham, of
Baltimore city, praying to be refunded a certain amount of
money therein mentioned;
Referred to the committee on Claims.
On motion of Mr. Wilson, of Harford,
Leave was granted the Harford county delegation to intro-
duce a bill for the relief of William H. Pearce, of Harford
county, exempting him from the prohibition or a penalty im-
posed by the 10th section of the 68th article of the code of
public general laws.
Also, leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to amend the 10th section of the 68th article
of the code of public general laws, which prohibits postmasters
and marshals from holding office in this State, by exempting
postmasters from the prohibition.
On motion of Mr. Compton,
Leave was granted the Charles county delegation to in-
troduce a bill authorising the school commissioners of Charles
county, to pay over to the creditors of George R. Fulmer,
whatever amount of money may be considered due said Ful-
mer, by the trustees of primary school number 9 of the 3d
election district of Charles county.
On motion of Mr. Dennis, of Somerset,
Leave was granted the Somerset county delegation to intro-
duce a bill to prohibit the sale of spirituous or fermented
liquors in Potato Neck district, in Somerset county.
Mr. McAllister offered the following:
Ordered, That Charles Hiss, John McAllister, William
McKinley, Daniel E. Myers, R. R. Battee, Isaac L. Boyd
and William H. Hay ward, justices of the peace of the city
of Baltimore, each of them respectively report to this House
on or before the 23d instant, the number of the ward for
which they were elected; whether they keep their place or
office for the transaction of business, within the ward of said
city for which they were elected, as required by law, and the
number of hours in each day they remain at said place of
business or office; also, whether they keep a place of business
or office in any other than the ward for which they were elected,
and if so, the number of hours each day they remain at said
