On motion of Mr. Welch,

Leave was granted to the Anne Arundel county delegation
to introduce a bill for the relief of primary school No. 57,
junior, in Anne Arundel county.

On motion of Mr. Straughn,

Leave was granted to the Judiciary committee to introduce
a bill to release E. Plummer and others, heir of John Thaw-
ly, deceased, late collector of county and State taxes of Caro-
line county, from interest on State tax for the year 1848.

On motion of Mr. Dennis, of Worcester,

Leave was granted the Worcester county delegation to in-
troduce a bill entitled, an act to amend the 35th section of
the 22d article of the code of public local laws, by increasing
the pay of the county commissioners of Worcester county;

On motion of Mr. Krafft,

Leave was granted the committee on Colored Population to
introduce a bill entitled, an act to protect white persons who
are caulkers, and to revent the employment of negro caulk-
ers as such by ship builders or owners of vessels in Baltimore

city.

On motion of Mr. Coudy,

Leave was granted the Washington county delegation to
introduce a bill for a free school for nine months in each year
for Washington county.

On motion of Mr. Legg,

Leave was granted the Queen Anne's county delegation to
introduce a bill directing the county commissioners of Queen
Anne's county to publish the levy list annually.

On motion of Mr. Seth,

Leave was granted the Baltimore city delegation to in-
troduce a bill for the relief of Mary Ellen Vernon, a blind
girl.

Mr. Seth offered the following:

Ordered, That the Chief Clerk be authorised to obtain, for
the use of himself and assistants, such articles as may be re-
quired in the discharge of his duties.

Which was adopted.
On motion of Mr. Durant,

Leave was granted the committee on Claims to introduce a
bill to authorise the Comptroller to adjust the account of the
State of Maryland against Elijah T. Abell, collector of State
