On motion of Mr. Claggett,

Leave was granted to the Frederick county delegation to
introduce a bill authorising the commissioners of Frederick
county to purchase certain papers for the use of the surveyor's
office.

On motion of Mr. Hunter,

Leave was granted to the committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill for the relief of Matthew Burton, of Baltimore
county.

On motion of Mr. Gordon,

Leave was granted the committee on Claims to introduce
a bill for the payment of moneys due to Matilda E. Green.

Mr. Freaner presented a petition, praying for a reduction
of license on inn-keepers;
Referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Goldsborough, chairman of the committee on Corpora-
tions, reported favorably on the bill entitled, an act to incor-
porate the Southwestern Mutual Insurance company of Balti-
more;

. Also, on the bill entitled, an act to incorporate a company
to be known as the Leitersburg and Ringgold Turnpike com-
pany;

Which were read severally the first time.

Mr. Mackubin, chairman of the committee of Claims, re-
ported favorably on the Senate bill entitled, an act supple-
mental to an act entitled, an act appropriating a sum of
money for the rendering more secure against fire the State
House and the public archives, for erecting a fire-proof re-
cord office, and for enlarging the State Library-room and the
hall of the House of Delegates.

On motion of Mr. Mackubin,                             

The rules were suspended, and the bill read a second, and
by special order the third time, and passed by yeas and nays
as follow:
