Mr. Rasin presented a memorial from sundry citizens of
Kent county, praying for the protection of oysters;

Referred to the committee on Oysters and Fish.

Mr. Miller presented the petition of the Lafayette Guards
of Baltimore city, asking compensation for services rendered
at Harper's Ferry during the John Brown raid;

Referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Stake presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Washington county, district No. 12, praying protection to
the sheep-grower;

Referred to the Washington county delegation.

Mr. Claggett presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Frederick county, in relation to land papers wanting in sur-
veyor's office in said county;

Which was referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Mr. Salmon presented a petition of Capt. Charles A. Be-
vans, of the Linganore Mounted Guard and 58 others, members
of said company, asking the Legislature to furnish them with
arms and equipments;

Referred to the committee on the Militia.

Also, a petition from Charles A. Bevans and 15) others, of
Frederick county, in relation to the local trade on the Balti-
more and Ohio Railroad;

Referred to the select committee on that subject.

Mr. Barnard presented a petition from citizens of Allegany
county, against a new election district;

Referred to the Allegany county delegation.

Mr. Welch presented a petition from Robert Franklin, of
Anne Arundel county, praying the passage of a law to re-
assess certain property in said county;

Referred to the Anne Arundel county delegation.

Mr. Quinlan presented a petition from James W. Alnutt
and sundry other citizens of Baltimore city, relative to a
three-cent fare on passenger railways;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.
