All of which accounts are on file in the office of the Comp-
troller of the State, and to which your honorable body is re-
ferred.

That for the year 1859, the accounts of the undersigned,
as late State's Attorney, are not settled. That of the amount
due from the city for that year the sum of $3,100 remains
unpaid, and will not be paid, as stated by the Register, be-
fore May next. That there is a discrepancy of several hun-
dred dollars between the Sheriff's accounts for his official
terms of 1858 and 1859 and the statement of the clerk of
the court, and that the undersigned has employed one of the
clerks to examine the dockets, audit the accounts, and to as-
certain the true amount that will be embraced in his return
for the year 1859, which will be made, as the others, before
the close of the fiscal year ending in September next. That
he returns so far for the year 1859:
