Jones, of Talbot, Chaplain, Dennis, of Som., Long, Lawson,
Holland, Wilson, of Cecil, Maxwell, Miller, Bryan, Wootton,
Jones, of Prince George's, Legg, Starkey, Jacobs, Landing,
Dennis, of Worcester, Kessler, Claggett, Routzahn, Johnson,
Salmon, Naill, Wilson, of Harford, Bayless, McCoy, Straughn,
Goldsborough, Krafft, Booze, Seth, Berry, Crowley, McAllis-
ter, Smith, Turner, of Baltimore city, Denison, of Baltimore
city, Coudy, Eakle, Brining, Freaner, Stake, Harding, Gor-
don, Barnard, Beall, McCleary, Roop, Gorsuch, Mills, Tur-
ner, of Howard and Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.
On motion of Mr. Dennis, of Somerset,

It was ordered to be entered on the journal that Mr. Stan-
ford was detained from his seat in the House by indisposi-
tion.

The Speaker laid before the House the report of the com-
missioners of the State Lunatic Asylum;

Also, the report of William Gilmor, notary public of Bal-
timore, in relation to protests;

Which were read, and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Krafft presented a petition from Metamora Tribe, No.
1, of the Independent Order of Red Men, to the General As-
sembly of Maryland, asking exemption from taxation;

Referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Bayless presented a petition from the members of the
Morning Star Lodge, No. 20, Order of Odd Fellows, of Havre
de Grace, for a law to exempt their property from taxation;

Referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Also, a petition from James F. Sulivan and 54 others, citi-
zens of Harford county, to prohibit the staking of gill nets in
the Chesapeake bay and its tributaries, and non-residents
from fishing in said waters;

Referred to the Kent, Cecil and Harford county delega-
tions.

Also, a petition from James W. Hanna and others, of Har-
ford county, for a law to prevent the selling of carriages'
hacks, buggy-wagons, &c, in Harford county, without li-
cense;

Referred to the Harford county delegation.
