any law to tax dogs, or, at least, to prevent hunting of game
with dogs;

Mr. Morgan presented a memorial from H. May, William
F. Danrymple and others, praying the passage of a law for
the protection of wild fowl in the waters of the Chesapeake
and its tributaries:

Referred to the committee on Wild Fowl.

Mr. Stake presented a petition from thirty-seven citizens of
Washington county, praying for the protection of game in
said county;

Also, a petition from eighty-two citizens of Washington
county, asking protection for game in said county;

Which were severally referred to the Washington county
delegation.

Mr. Burgess presented a petition from William E. Dement,
R. H. Stewart, and a number of others, citizens of Charles
county, praying the Legislature to appropriate a sum of
money sufficient to arm the volunteer companies of this
State;

Referred to the committee on the Militia.
On motion of Mr. Bryan,

The rules were suspended, and the bill entitled, an act to
amend the 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th sections of the 61st
article of the code of general laws, so as to change the time
of fishing in the Potomac river, to prohibit persons from fish-
ing with seines or gill nets opposite the shores of the owners
or occupiers of any fishery, to provide for a proper enforce-
ment of the provisions of the said sections, and to define the
rights of bona fide citizens of the counties bordering on said
river;

Was recommitted to the committee on Oysters and Fsh.

Mr. Linthicum presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Dorchester county, praying the passage of a law to protect
the oysters in Slaughter creek:

Also, a petition from sundry citizens of Dorchester county,
praying for the passage of a law to authorise and require the
commissioners of said county, to make such regulations as
will protect the bridges on Slaughter creek: and also, to issue
a tariff of charges on all non-residents of the county, for
crossing said bridge; and also, for the passage of a law
