Henry Winter Davis, acting in Congress as one of the repre-
sentatives of this State, by his vote for Mr. Pennington, the
candidate of the Black Republican party for the Speakership
of the House of Representatives, has misrepresented the sen-
timents of all portions of this State, and thereby forfeited the
confidence of her people.

Which was read the first time, and by special order the
second time.

Mr. Denison, of Baltimore city, moved to strike out the
word "black,,' preceding the word "republican;"
Which was lost.

Mr. Compton moved the previous question;
Which was sustained.

The question then being,

"Shall the main question be now put?"

On motion of Mr. Wootton,
A call of the House was ordered.
Pending the call of the House,

All further proceedings under the call were dispensed
with.
