The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Davenport.

The General Assembly of Maryland:
The Finance committee of the Senate, and the committee
of Ways and Means of the House of Delegates, of the last
General Assembly, respectfully report, that, in obedience to
the requirements of chapter 109, section 5, of the acts of
1858, on the 11th day of March, the day after the adjourn-
ment of the Legislature, they met at the office of the Trea-
surer, in the city of Annapolis, and, after carefully examin-
ing all the certificates of stock of the State of Maryland,
standing in the official name of the Treasurer, to his credit
on the books of his office, purchased by him for the use of
the sinking fund, from the 24th day of February, 1854, up
to the close of the fiscal year ending on the 30th day of Sep-
tember, 1857, and having compared them with the Treasu-
