Mr. Salmon presented a petition of sundry citizens of Fre-
derick county to amend article 30th of section 67 of the new
code of public general laws, so us not to relate to fox hunt-
ing;

Referred to the committee on Agriculture.

Mr. Goldsborough presented a petition of sundry citizens,
asking for an act to incorporate a company to build a bridge
over the Choptank river;                                       

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

Also, presented a petition of sundry citizens of Caroline
county, asking for arms for the Denton Guards;
Referred to the committee on the Militia.           

On motion of Mr. Harding,

The rules were suspended to enable him to submit the fol-
lowing:

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Adjutant General be directed to furnish from the State's
quota of arms, to the order of Capt. Edward W. Owen, of
the Montgomery Mounted Guards, a cavalry company, such
arms and accoutrements as are usually required to equip com-
panies of similar character, upon his compliance with the re-
quisitions of existing laws in relation to the safe-keeping and
return of the same.

Which was read the first time.                  

Mr. Quinlan submitted the following:

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Adjutant General be and he is hereby ordered to furnish Capt.
Charles R. Chew, of the Towson Guards, sixty Minnie mus-
kets, with the necessary accoutrements, from the quota due
the State from the general government for the year 1859,
upon his giving security for their safe-keeping and return
when required by the State;                         

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Freaner presented a memorial from 40 citizens of
Washington county, millers and others, asking that the Leg-
islature will reduce the local charge for freight on the Balti-
more and Ohio Railroad;

Referred to the special committee on that subject.

Also, presented a petition of A. H. Hager and 59 other
citizens of Washington county, protesting against the local
rates of freight by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.

Referred to the same committee.
