Mr. McAllister presented a memorial from three hundred
and fifty property holders in the city of Baltimore, in relation
to the city passenger railway in said city;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

Mr. Coudy presented a petition from seventy-nine citizens
of Washington county, in favor of a free school law for nine
months in each year;

Referred to the committee on Education.

Mr. Long presented a petition from citizens of Somerset
county, praying more stringent laws against the free negro
population;

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

Also, a petition from sundry persons of Somerset county,
against dredging:

Referred to the committee on Oysters and Fish.

Mr. Beall presented a memorial from several coal compa-
nies in Allegany county, situated along the George's Creek
Coal and Iron company's railroad, protesting against the pas-
Rage of any act granting said company any further privi-
leges;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.
