On motion of Mr. Mills,

Leave was granted the Carroll county delegation to report
a bill entitled, "an act to incorporate the Town of Union-
town, Carroll county, Maryland."

On motion of Mr. Goldsborough,

Leave wan granted the Caroline county delegation to report
a bill authorising the commissioners of said county to appoint
a collector of State and County taxes in each election dis-
trict.

On motion of Mr. Denison, of Baltimore city,
Leave was granted the Baltimore city delegation to report
a bill, by way of supplement, to increase the capital of the
Gas Light Company of Baltimore.

On motion of Mr. Mills,

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill for the better regulation and management of
convicts under sentence of death.

On motion, of Mr. Smith,

Leave was granted the committee on Corporations, to report
a bill to authorize the incorporated banks of the city of Bal-
timore, to close said banks on certain days of the year, as
therein mentioned.

Mr. Legg presented a report of the President of the Board
of Trustees of Centreville Academy, for the years 1858 and
1859, to the General Assembly of Maryland.

Referred to committee on Education.
On motion of Mr. Goldsborough,

Leave was granted the committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill to incorporate the State of Maryland and
Baltimore City Passenger Railroad Company.

The following message was received from the Senate :

By the Senate,

January 9, 1860.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We propose to appoint Messrs. Goldsborough, of Talbot,
Yellott and McKaig, a special committee to act with a special
committee to be appointed by your Honorable Body, to ex-
amine the reports of the codifiers of the laws of this State,
and of the joint committee appointed by the last Legislature,
and report thereon at the earliest practicable moment.
