28                JOURNAL OP PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 9,

Which were read, and laid upon the table until Wednes-

day.

On motion of Mr. Beall,                                           

Leave was granted the Allegany county delegation to in-
troduce a bill concerning public schools in Allegany county

Mr. Legg presented a petition from sundry citizens of Queen
Anne's county, for the better protection of the oysters in this
State;

Which was read, and referred to the committee on Oysters,
already appointed.

On motion of Mr. Gordon,

Leave was granted the committee on Education to intro-
duce a bill providing for a general system of public education
throughout the State.

On motion of Mr. Briscoe,

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to re-
port a bill entitled, "an act to render more uniform and ef-
fectual the administration of the criminal law in this State."

On motion of Mr. Long,

Leave was granted a special committee, consisting of Messrs.
Long, Dennis, of Somerset, Lawson, Holland and Keene, to
bring in a bill to establish a division lino between Dorchester
and Somerset counties.                                         

On motion of Mr. Barnard,

Leave was granted the Allegany county delegation to in-
troduce an act to change the name of Otta Gleen Getzendan-
ner to Oscar Glenn Getzendanner.

On motion of Mr. Freaner,

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to make valid certain deeds, and to regulate
the recording of the same.

On motion of Mr. Freaner,

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to make valid a deed from Emanual Bonnan
and others, to Amelia Dilowter.

On motion of Mr. Coudy,

Leave was granted the committee on Ways and Means to
introduce a bill exempting a reasonable amount of property
from sale by execution.
