troduce a bill to incorporate the Baltimore, Gwin's Falls and
Reisterstown Railroad company.

Mr. Durant presented a petition from George C. Morgan,
E. L. Spalding and others, praying for an increase of the
salary of the treasurer of the school fund for St. Mary's
county;

Referred to the St. Mary's county delegation.
On motion of Mr. Bryan,

Leave was granted the Prince George's county delegation
to introduce a bill entitled, an act to amend the 16th article
of the code of public local laws, by adding thereto a section
compensating the register of wills for Prince George's
county for keeping the books of the school commissioners.

On motion of Mr. Wilson, of Cecil,

Leave was granted the Cecil county delegation to intro-
duce a bill to amend section eight of the code of public local
laws, relating to the almshouse of Cecil county.

On motion of Mr. Dennis, of Somerset,

Leave was granted the committee on Pilots to report a bill
to amend the 14th section of article 73d, relating to Pilots.

The Speaker laid before the House the communication of
Lewis Sutton, notary public, in response to the order of the
House;

Also, the communication of William Gilmor, notary public;

Which were read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Durant presented a petition from sundry citizens of
St. Mary's county, in the first election district of said county,
asking to be refunded certain amount of money therein men-
tioned ;

Referred to the committee on Claims.                             

On motion of Mr. Naill,

Leave was granted the Frederick county delegation to in-
troduce a bill to incorporate the Baltimore and Liberty Town
Turnpike road company in Frederick county.

On motion of Mr. Briscoe,

Leave was granted the committee on Corporations to in-
troduce a bill to incorporate the Southwestern Insurance com-
pany of Baltimore city.
