Jacobs. Landing, Dennis, of Worcester, Kessler, Clag-
gett, Routzahn, Johnson, Salmon, Naill, Wilson, of Har-
ford, Bayless, McCoy, Goldsborough, Krafft, Booze, Berry,
Crowley, McAllister, Smith, Turner, of Baltimore city, Den-
ison, of Baltimore city, Coudy, Eakle, Brining, Freaner,
Gordon, Beall, Roop, Mills, and Turner, of Howard.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The Speaker laid before the House a communication from
David Ridgely, one of the notaries public, in response to an
order of the House;                                                           

Which was read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Worthington presented a memorial from James J.
Forbes and thirty others, praying the Governor to institute
proceedings, in the name of the State, against the Washing-
ton Turnpike road;                                                    

Referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Keene presented a petition from George E. Pearson
and others, to put up a gate on the county road in Dorchester
county;                                                                       

Referred to the Dorchester county delegation.

Mr. Morgan presented a petition from J. W. J. Moore, W.
J. Yates and other citizens, praying an increase of pay for
keeping criminals in St. Mary's county.

Referred to the St. Mary's county delegation.

Mr. Bryan presented a petition from the judges of the Or-
phans' court of Prince George's county, asking a compensa-
tion to the register of wills of said county;

Referred to the Prince George's county delegation.

Mr. Dennis, of Worcester, presented a petition from H.
Humphries and forty-six others, praying the passage of an
act to carry into effect the act of 1835, chapter 395, appro-
priating one million dollars to internal improvements on the
Eastern Shore;

Referred to the special committee on that subject.

The Speaker laid before the House the report of the trus-
tees of Cambridge Academy;

Referred to the committee on Education.

On motion of Mr. Ford,
