troduce a bill for the better collection of the revenues of this
State from certain sales by auction in the city of Balti-
more.                                              

Also, leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill to prevent abuses by municipal corporations
within this State.

Also, offered the following:                                       

Ordered, That the clerk of the Criminal court of Baltimore
city inform this House as to the number of bail-bonds for-
feited in said court during the past four years, the names of
parties bailed, and their offences, with the names of their
bondsmen and the several amounts of their bonds; how many
of said bonds have been collected, and what disposition has
been made of the remainder;

Which was adopted.                                                     

Mr. Chaplain offered the following:                           

Ordered, That the committee on Judiciary be and is
hereby instructed to inquire and report to this House, at the
earliest day possible, what laws have been passed by the non-
slaveholding States of this Union, since the passage of the
fugitive slave law, hostile to the interests of Maryland; and,
if any, by what State or States, their general character, with
date and chapter;

Mr. Briscoe proposed the following amendment:
Strike out "Judiciary," and insert "Federal Relations;"
Which was assented to.

The question then recurring on the order, as amended,
It was adopted.                       

On motion of Mr. Beall,           

Leave was granted the Allegany county delegation to in-
troduce a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Western-
port Academy, of Allegany county.

On motion of Mr. Worthington,

Leave was granted the Baltimore county delegation to
introduce a bill to incorporate the Home Missionary Society
of the Maryland Annual Conference of the Methodist Pro-
testant Church.
