the mayor and city council, in addition to the power con-
tained in said section, the power to erect lamps, and to cause
the same to be lighted at the expense of the city:

Also, the bill entitled, an act to amend the 4th article of the
code of public local laws, by inserting therein the following
sections, regulating duties in the city of Baltimore, and to
repeal the 18th section of said article touching elections ;
Said bill being upon its second reading,
Mr. Stake proposed the following amendment:
After the word "precincts," 5th line, section 1st, strike out
all to the conclusion of the section.
