sections so repealed, certain sections providing for a perma-
nent police for the city of Baltimore;

Also, the bill entitled, an act to amend the 817th section of
the code of public local laws, which authorises the mayor and
city council of Baltimore to clear the streets and protect the
pavements of said city, and to substitute the following section,
giving to the Mayor and City Council, in addition to the
power contained in said section, the power to erect lamps and
cause the same to be lighted at the expense of the city ;

Also, the bill entitled, an act to amend the 4th article of the
code of public local laws, by inserting therein the following
sections, regulating duties in the city of Baltimore, and to
repeal the 18th section of an article touching elections ;

Also, the bill entitled, an act to amend the 1st, 2d, 3d,
5th, 6th, 8th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th,
23d, 24th, 28th, 30th, 31st, 38th, 44th, 49th and 50th sec-
tions of the 35th article of the code of general laws relating
to elections, so as to exclude the city of Baltimore from the
operation of said sections, except as therein provided, and to
substitute therefor the following ;

Which were severally read the first time.                         

Mr. Krafft, from the same committee, made the following

REPORT:

Upon the part of the minority of the committee on the Ju-
diciary, we, the undersigned, report unfavorably upon certain
bills referred to said committee, relative to the establishment
of a permanent police for the city of Baltimore, and repeal-
ing certain sections of the code of public local laws mentioned
in said bill.

Mr. Mackubin, from the committee on Claims, reported fa-
vorably on the Senate bill entitled, an act appropriating a
sum of money in payment for legal services rendered by Dan-
iel M. Henry, at the request of the Governor of the State;

Which was read the first time.                                         

Mr. Maxwell, from the committee on Corporations, report-
ed favorably on the bill entitled, an act to authorise the Gas
Light company of Baltimore, incorporated by the act of
1816, chapter 251, to increase its capital stock;

Also, on the bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Miller's
Island company, of Baltimore county;

Which were severally read the first time.
